The main scientific avtivities of are theoretical and experimental studies in solid state physics, soft matter, atomic and molecular optics, and quantum optics. Very well equipped laboratories of spectroscopy and have enormous potential.
In recent years the department has successfully developed new directions of research, in particular mesoscopics physics, quantum information technology and biophysics. The Department cooperates with many research centers worldwide. Professors and assistant professors of our Faculty, can be meet in many countries in Europe, the United States and Japan.
The teaching offer of Physics Department is very attractive. Currently, at three fields of study: Physics, , and , and at ten specialities are conducted full-time and part-time for bachelor and master degrees studies. Many of the specialities offered are unique in the country, which means that each year the number of candidates exceeds the number of offered places. Currently there are more than 1,500 full-time students and more than 250 part-time students at the Faculty. Each year, within the LLP-Erasmusi, about 40 our students take (annual or semester) courses at the best European universities.
G艂贸wne kierunki aktywno艣ci naukowej to badania teoretyczne i eksperymentalne z zakresu fizyki cia艂a sta艂ego, materii mi臋kkiej, optyki atomowej i molekularnej oraz optyki kwantowej. Ogromny potencja艂 aparaturowy Wydzia艂u stanowi膮 laboratoria r贸偶nego rodzaju spektroskopii oraz .
W ostatnich latach wydzia艂 z powodzeniem rozwija nowe kierunki bada艅, w szczeg贸lno艣ci fizyk臋 uk艂ad贸w mezoskopowych, informatyk臋 kwantow膮 czy biofizyk臋. Wydzia艂 wsp贸艂pracuje z wieloma o艣rodkami naukowymi na ca艂ym 艣wiecie. Profesor贸w naszego Wydzia艂u oraz adiunkt贸w, odbywaj膮cych sta偶e podoktorskie, mo偶na spotka膰 w wielu krajach Europy, oraz w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Japonii.
Wydzia艂 Fizyki od lat proponuje kandydatom na studia atrakcyjn膮 ofert臋 dydaktyczn膮. Obecnie na trzech kierunkach studi贸w: Fizyka, i oraz na dziesi臋ciu specjalno艣ciach prowadzone s膮 studia stacjonarne i niestacjonarne, licencjackie i magisterskie. Wiele z oferowanych specjalno艣ci jest unikatowych w skali kraju co powoduje, 偶e ka偶dego roku liczba kandydat贸w na studia przekracza liczb臋 oferowanych miejsc. Obecnie na Wydziale studiuje ponad 1500 student贸w na studiach stacjonarnych i ponad 250 student贸w na studiach niestacjonarnych. Ka偶dego roku, w ramach programu LLP-Erasmus oko艂o 40-stu student贸w Wydzia艂u Fizyki odbywa studia (roczne lub semestralne) na najlepszych uniwersytetach europejskich.

- demos of effects related to power production,
- multimedia show related to different problems with standard and new methods of power production and energy consumption.
- artistic performances showing releations between physics and natural sciences with problems of power production (theatre performances, photography, drawings/paintings, poems etc.)
